Parker TC provides specialist consultancy, training and practical support to residential children’s homes throughout Cumbria. Our areas of specialism include therapeutic and trauma-informed care, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) services.
Our children homes consultancy service is available to Ofsted-registered providers seeking experienced, objective guidance. We work with responsible individuals, registered managers and staff teams to understand the service’s current position and determine where our support will be most valuable.
Consultancy can include:
A confident and well-informed team is central to providing safe, consistent residential care. Parker TC offers a range of accredited children homes training courses for providers in Cumbria and organisations across the wider care sector.
Training subjects can include:
Planning a new children’s home requires careful consideration of its purpose, policies, systems and approach to care. Providers must also understand and prepare for the Ofsted registration process.
Parker TC offers start-up consultancy to new and developing providers throughout Cumbria. We can assist with home development, write or review policies, consider proposed systems and support preparations for registration.
Our role is to help providers understand what is required and establish strong foundations for the proposed service. Parker TC does not work with unregulated provisions or providers unless the assistance required relates to Ofsted registration.
Regular scrutiny can help providers recognise good practice and address areas that need attention. Parker TC conducts both routine audits and audits focused on a particular aspect of a service.
We also offer investigation support when an organisation requires informed and impartial assistance with a specific matter. Our policy services include reviewing existing documents and writing policies that are clear, relevant and appropriate for the operation of the home.
Effective children safeguarding involves more than having the correct documents in place. Staff must understand their responsibilities, notice potential concerns and respond through the appropriate procedures.
Parker TC provides safeguarding consultancy and training to children’s homes across Cumbria. We can review safeguarding policies, examine current working practices and help providers identify where additional development may be needed.
Our safeguarding level 3 training provides relevant staff with a more detailed understanding of how to safeguard children and young people.
The course includes important areas such as identifying safeguarding concerns, assessing risk, child protection legislation, effective communication and professional responsibilities. It is designed to help participants develop the knowledge and confidence required to act appropriately when concerns arise.
Safeguarding Level 3 training is available to residential care providers and other suitable organisations throughout Cumbria.
Regulation 44 visits offer independent scrutiny of the care and safeguarding arrangements within a children’s home. They provide valuable insight into the home’s operation and may identify areas where further action or development is needed.
Parker TC provides Regulation 44 support to children’s homes in Cumbria. We can help managers and providers consider findings from visits and inspections, review their current position and respond to recommendations.
We work with children’s homes across Cumbria, including Carlisle, Penrith, Kendal, Barrow-in-Furness, Workington, Whitehaven, Keswick and the surrounding rural communities.
